Effective and continuous monitoring and evaluation of Watershed projects is a must for ensuring the successful achievements of the targets. To this effect, it must be borne in minds by the implementing agencies including the watershed communities that the success of the projects are ensured by smooth and efficient monitoring and evaluation, and the implementations should also be done accordingly, and the M&E operations are not considered as ‘imposed’, but rather as indispensable steps to ensure success and continuity of the watershed development works by the watershed communities themselves even after withdrawal of Government intervention.
The Government of Mizoram, Rural Development Department appointed SIRD&PR, Mizoram as an Evaluator of the IWDP/Hariayali project since 2006. More than 40 projects out 51 projects within Mizoram have been evaluated and submitted its report to the government for necessary action.
Further, the State Government also appointed one of the Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning & Documentation (MELD) of IWMP/PMKSY project in Siaha, Champhai and Kolasib District. All the reports and documentations are submitted on time.
